DGC BC Academic Code of Conduct
DGC BC Logbook Holders and Members enrolled in DGC BC courses must adhere to the DGC BC’s Code of Conduct. and the Terms of Use for the DGC BC training site.
By registering and attending DGC BC courses, participants agree to:
- behave in a professional and respectful manner;
- respect the authority of the instructor and course administrator;
- treat others fairly and with dignity;
- demonstrate honesty and integrity;
- respect, acknowledge and understand that participants may have diverse opinions and experience levels;
- attend and arrive on time for all classes (see DGC BC late policy);
- engage and participate to the best of their abilities in classes and group activities;
- turn off, or place on silent mode, their mobile phone during class so as not to disturb and distract the instructor and fellow participants;
- attend all virtual classes from an appropriate private location (i.e. not from a public space such as a coffee shop);
- complete all individual assignments on their own and submit original content (i.e. not plagiarized content);
- submit all assignments by the required deadline;
- respect all copyright laws; and
- respect personal information and the privacy of others; and
- agree to the Terms of Use for the DGC BC training website.
Participants also agree NOT TO:
- share DGC BC training website login credentials with anyone else;
- use anyone else’s DGC BC training website login account;
- record the virtual classes;
- reproduce or publicly post any course content, including but not limited to: screenshots, digital captures, handouts, textbooks (in part or in whole) quizzes, assignments, email correspondence, online discussions or chat threads, exams;
- harass, bully, threaten, or engage in aggressive behaviour towards others either verbally or in writing;
- post or upload anything off-topic, offensive, abusive or illegal to the Course Site or the Virtual Classroom;
- post or upload inappropriate messages, content unrelated to the course, unauthorised advertising, promotional material or spam to the discussion forums, Course Site or the Virtual Classroom; and
- engage in cheating or plagiarism, as defined below.
Cheating
Dishonest or attempted dishonest conduct on assessments, including, but not limited to, quizzes, tests, examinations, assignments.
Plagiarism
Plagiarism includes, but is not limited to, the act of stealing or copying another individual’s work and submitting it as one’s own without crediting the original source.
Policies & Procedures
All assignments must be submitted/posted by 23:55 (11:55 pm) Pacific Time on the due date, unless otherwise indicated. Details for the submission process are found on each assignment.
Late assignments will not be accepted.
Registrants must attend all virtual classes, and successfully complete all assignments and the final exam.
Permittee Logbook Holders must remain in Good Standing for the duration of the course. If you are suspended during the course, you will not be allowed to continue and will be required to register for the course again.
Attendance
Attendance is mandatory for the virtual classes. We consider Zoom classes the same as in-person classes, therefore, your video must be on and you must be visible during the full duration of the course. If something occurs during the class and you are not able to keep your camera on, we will consider you as having left the class, and the Missed Days policy will apply.
Late Policy
Any attendee who is more than 15 minutes late will not be allowed to attend the class and must re-schedule the next time the course is offered. Please take into consideration the time it takes to log in to Zoom and to set up your microphone and video camera. If you arrive more than 15 minutes late, you will be considered a “no show” and you will not receive a refund or credit for the course.
Exams, Quizzes, Assignments
All online exams, quizzes and assignments are open book (i.e. you can refer to your notes and course materials). However, be aware that there are time limits for exams and quizzes which will prohibit you from looking up the correct answer to each question. Your submitted assignments and responses on exams and quizzes must be a true representation of your own learning and knowledge.
