Trainee Assistant Location Manager Course (TAL)
In this course, you will learn the role and responsibilities of the Trainee Assistant Location Manager (TAL). You will be introduced to the Locations process – reading the script, scouting locations, preparing a location for filming, filming at a location, and wrapping a location. There will be an emphasis on the paperwork that is completed by the Locations Department at each step in this process, and practical exercises will help to enhance understanding. The role of the Locations Department in a Production and its relationship with other departments and the community at large are also discussed.

Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to:

- Explain the purpose of the script and the elements of the Locations script breakdown
- Describe the Locations process and the duties of the Locations Department during this process

- Know what to include on a call sheet directional map and how to start drawing one
- Reflect on the importance of communicating with film locations and the public
- Describe the key elements of a Locations Budget
- Complete the paperwork for an L&D and location unit parking
- Plan a tech survey schedule
- List and explain the purpose of Production and Location Department paperwork
- Organize Location Department paperwork
- Reflect on how to plan for a successful future in the film industry
